One of the largest studies of the MTA in a generation is underway, according to SFgate. One of the items on the table is free fares, inspired by ridership surges during the Spare the Air days during the last few months. “I’m interested in exploring it,” Supervisor Bevan Dufty told The Chronicle on Thursday. One quarter of Muni’s revenue is from rider fares.
